Got an insight to share…

Ni hao ma everyone?

Another busy day passed by.While I was assessing my accomplishments,I’ve found out that I’ve succeeded.Although I haven’t finished all of those things,I’ve succesfully completed some.I do have an eventful and very hectic schedule because I also linked myself to some extra stuff like organizations and other groups.Every time I finish all of these tasks,I always give myself a reward. What reward?Of course read some of my fave books and movies, but as of this time I only have a book in my hand.I could not update myself with new movies since I do not have a television in my room.

Anyways, every night I always read daily insights from one book of John C. Maxwell entitled “Maximize Your Day”.John C. Maxwell is the New York Times Best Selling Author of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.I am actually reading one of his books and another readings he wrote was the book “Developing a Leader Within You”.Fortunately,I have in my hand the book “Maximize your day” but unfortunately the other books are still in some bookstores.I still need to earn a lot of money to purchase those.

The book Maximize your Day:365 Days of Insight to Develop the Leader Within You and Influence those around You is a very helpful book to me.Every day, I learn important lesson and what I do is apply it in my daily routine. This is actually my one way of influencing others. But I’ve realized that it is not enough.I’ve come to realize that I can actually post those insights daily in my blog(that is if I got a luxury of time). So from now on,I’ll be posting the things being emphasized in the book.I’ll also try to share some of my daily testimonials to have more human element, right?I hope I could help those who need guidance from Maxwell but haven’t read the book.’Coz I believe that an information unshared is very futile.

This day I’ve read the chapter “A willingness to pay the price”.Maxwell emphasized that “without each person’s conviction that the cause is worth the price, the battle will never be won, and the team will not succeed. There must be commitment”.

Oh here we come!Commitment!Sense of commitment is not easy to get from members of a group or organization. In order to achieve this, the leader must have a very long patience. This requires time and more effort. The leader must be dedicated in order to influence the members.I’ve been a president and at the same time an officer in other organizations.I experienced many ups and downs in leadership but I tried my very best not to be discouraged by these circumstances. It’s normal that leaders experience this. What I did is just do my task, responsibilities and acted as a model of excellence to my members. The consequences were great!I got more positive response from them and accomplished many group tasks. To see my members learning is very fulfilling in my part.To see them growing as leaders inspired me a lot.All of our efforts were worth it most esp when we won as 2nd student org in our university. For some this may be too small achievement for them, but for us it is a great achievement. What we do now is do better and serve the studentry.

I’m going to leave this question to be pondered. This is actually found in Maxwell’s book.

Question:Are you committed only when it is comfortable, or are you willing to pay the price to help your team succeed?

To all my readers,if you think you have something to share about this post,do not be hesitant to leave comments.Until next posting time guys.Hope you learn something out from this post.

Thanks John C. Maxwell for the book you’ve written. It makes us reflect on our daily accomplishment.

God Bless everyone.

Ni hao!I’m back and I hope this is for good.I was totally shocked when I’ve rechecked this blog of mine.I was actually having awhhhaaaat feeling because my latest post was eight months ago, that was in January. What on earth I’ve been doing that I even haven’t visited my blog?To give you an idea guys,I was very, very, very busy with so many, many, many schoolworks.I got many outputs to submit.Beat many deadlines.

During the months of January to March,I kept myself busy also with my course-related organization-Development Communicators’ Society (DeCSo).I was the president that time so I got many extra things to do.My experience was not that easy because I need to balance my time in academics and some of these extra-curricular stuff.I still remember when one of my friends even confronted me saying that I did not even had a balance in my schedules. Thanks to that friend of mine and I have evaluated myself.Anyways, all of my efforts were all worth it because our organization got the second place under the category of Best Student Organization in our university. Thanks to all my officers and esp my members. They were all dedicated.Keep it up guys.Keep the fire burning.

Ooops! My time has ended.I need to log out guys coz I still need to finish some reports,articles,etc.etc.etc…

I’m Back!!

January 22, 2008

After many days of not updating my blog,I’m back in cyber world.I’ll just post later about my experiences in China trip.

This is it!I’m in China

December 20, 2007

This is it!What you see at the background is the library of Zhejiang Gongshang University.Unfortunately,we failed to take pictures inside so I cannot let you see how vast their library is.When I was toured there by my close friend Shi Heng or Kennith,I’ve seen many Chinese books and made my nose bleed(harharhar, just exaggerating).Actually,Kennith lend me an English book to read.It was about Mahatma Gandhi’s biography. There, you can sit and read your fave books on a couch.

Yummy Chinese food

December 20, 2007

One of the cafeterias in Zhejiang Gongshang University. Here, you can taste delicius Chinese foods. At first,my taste buds don’t like it but trying it makes me love the Chinese food.Hay!I miss dumplings.Actually,we were taught how to make one.

Dumpling making is easy. And dumplings are tasty.I also love spicy foods and I’ve found one there. This costs 5yuan only and if we convert it to peso, you can pay more or less 25-30pesos(very reasonable price). Moreover, this is sizzling and hot.Be sure that you love spicy foods or else(harharhar).

This is not a dream. This is real. This photo was taken during our first day at Zhejiang Gongshang University.(from left to right)I,Ella Lois Bestil,Ruby Mae Villablanca,Catalino Hermosilla,Marlon Prado,Mrs.Sanico and Mrs.Noris had a pose near the dormitory where we were accomodated.Actually,it was Sir Toto who took the photo. We arrived in Hangzhou airport at 10 in the evening,October 13,2007 and immediately proceed to the said university.Though we wore jackets, still we feel cold.Much more in my case because I’m so thin(harharhar). We stayed at the said university for three weeks. This is in line with the Spoken English Promotion Project(SEPP).Every morning we attend classes at College of Foreign Language Building. There,we learn Basic Chinese,Chinese painting, song, etc.I’ve appreciated the richness of Chinese culture because of attending such classes.Every afternoon,we meet the Chinese students and have a conversation with them.

This is it!Hay,I really miss this room.I still remember the first time I sit in this couch, the hot seat for me(harharhar). All of us have our own room assignment where we talk to Chinese students.I was actually excited when I entered this room. However, the question still rings in my mind,”Am I in China?,Is this real and am I not dreaming?”.This is my first time to go abroad and the feeling is different when you go out from your country.

While waiting for my students to come,I entertained myself by singing(pampawala ng tensyon).I prepared and wrote down the things that I’ll be doing the moment the students will enter the room.I prepared some questions to ask.I also prepared games whenever the students get bored. But I’ve found out that they are stirred up easily when we speak to them. They love talking to foreigners(we were called so because we come from another country).I enjoyed talking to them especially when you explore many things.I got to know better their culture and people.I also ask something about politics, literature, etc. But what excites them most is the topic “LOVE”,I guess everyone loves this topic.Through conversation,we exchange ideas and thoughts.I come to meet many, many, many good friends.I love the Chinese.I love my stay there.I love to go back and spend my time with my Chinese friends. My dear viewers,I will post the pictures of my Chinese friends if I will have more time.I will post some of the pics taken there just to give you a bit on what we experienced.Actually, words are not enough to describe the great feeling when we got there.Do not worry guys,I’ll post next time.

Thanks for reading my blog.God Bless.
